XI

| Who |
Numerous
ballrooms & studios throughout the world.
However, beware that many instructors for
beginners are "instructors in training"
and you may not have a say in who you get
for your "beginner" lessons. |
Only
one XI Dance. Lead instructors at each class
have over 10 years teaching experience. Besides
experienced lead instructors, each class is
staffed with assistant instructors to provide
plenty of personal attention. |

the last 100 years. |

Can schedule classes at your convenience for
group, private, or semi-private lessons. |
| Why |
People
choose ballrooms-studios because it's the
only thing they've known. If you think it's
the only way to learn to dance, then that's
what you do. Also, some people like the ballrooms
because of the social atmosphere and because
they get pampered. In addition, some people
like listening to music only played in ballrooms
and music that's sometimes a half-century
old or more. |
People
choose XI Dance because they KNOW what else
is out there and they've heard and/or seen
how we teach. They want to learn how to dance
and they don't want to spend the rest of their
lives learning the box step or some elaborate
routine that has them all over the dance floor.
They want to dance! They're not coming for
the social benefits and pampering, they're
coming with a goal. Also, sometimes people
enjoy dancing to music that's current and
up to date. |
| How Long
Does It Take? |
The
slower they teach you, the more money you
spend. They're looking for long-term customers
and have NO incentive to teach you quickly.
Also, beware of limits as to what you can
be taught during your lesson. There's no incentive
in having people picking it up to quickly.
Ask any "former" ballroom instructors
and they'll tell you. |
This
can range anywhere from a 2hr session to an
8hr session, depending on what you want to
learn. We have a couple of different levels,
but the gist of it is that you can learn in
a day what it would take you at least 3-4
months to learn at a ballroom with weekly
lessons. Plus, we have many instructors at
our sessions that help you while you're practicing.
|
| Price |
Starts
out with some kind of intro (like $10 for
5 lessons). Don't be fooled though - this
is to get you in the door so they can sell
you on the rest. Average from there is anywhere
from about $65 to $125 per 50/55minute sessions,
and sometimes, per person. |
Group
sessions range anywhere from $10 per person
to $199 per couple for an all day event where
you'll leave with all the basics you'll need
to get out on the floor and have FUN! Private
lessons can be set up anywhere and average
$60 per hour. |
| What
You Get |
Learn
to dance, just not as quickly. You may learn
dances that aren't done very much at public
events or nightclubs (when's the last time
you saw someone doing the "Foxtrot"
at a club?) That's what ballrooms and tea
dances are for! |
Learn to dance, get a take home syllabus/outline,
or get a DVD of all the moves so you can
practice what you learn, and join a network
of people with whom you can go out dancing
and a list of great places to go. |
